TELECOM ITALIA WINS TENDER FOR NEW MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA GROUP TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK
The three-year contract, valued at over 45 million euro, is to develop an integrated voice and data network for all Group sites
Telecom Italia has won the tender to design and implement the new integrated telecommunications network for the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Group. Telecom Italia won the three-year contract, worth over 45 million euro, with a competitive, innovative and versatile bid that will allow the MPS Group to achieve significant cost reductions.
The contract calls for the development of an MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) transmission network offering security and reliability for banking transactions conducted by all Monte Paschi di Siena Group branches. The network features twin Data Processing Centres operating simultaneously – one in Florence and the other in Siena – to ensure the continuity of branch and ATM transactions via XDSL broadband connections. A personalized helpdesk also accessed through an advanced web interface provides network management and technology/equipment assistance.
The innovative and versatile new integrated network developed for the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Group paves the way for the roll-out of advanced, easy to use new banking services accessible via an integrated platform of channels (branches, internet banking, call center, mobile banking, etc.). Plans include a 3G wireless network technology component to further enhance connection continuity and reliability between the Group’s main branches
