ACTIONS
Individual and group meetings with representatives of national institutions (Chamber and Senate Committees, parliamentary hearings) and international institutions on business matters concerning the Group (participation in discussion platforms, public consultations, workshops, meetings of parliamentary committees, meetings with the European Commission, Agencies or working groups and specialised studies including the Centre for European Policy Studies). The positioning with respect to institutions and community organizations occurs through individual actions and/or with the participation of other operators mainly through ETNO, of which TIM is a Board member. KEY ISSUES:  data privacy and protection, audiovisual regulations, fight against corruption, protection of minors, digitization of the industry through the development of new network technologies, copyright protection.

ACTIVITIES.  the activities include participation in the working group set up by the European Commission to draw up the 5G Action Plan.

ACTIONS
Since 2015, TIM has participated as Founding Sponsor partner, now Benefactor, in Programma il Futuro (Programme the Future), a MIUR initiative, implemented by the CINI (National Inter-University IT Consortium) that favours the introduction of coding and computational thinking in the educational programmes of schools of all levels.
Within the context of the MOU signed with MIUR, since 2016, TIM promotes ScuolaDigitaleTIM. For the 2018/2019 school year, the project aims to introduce secondary school children to new technologies, the Internet of Things and Robotics. During the school year, 3,000 students will be involved in the classroom, in addition to all those who will follow the online teaching on scuoladigitale.tim.it.   

COMMITMENT. The European Digital Agenda objectives are to broaden knowledge of digital tools and increase the number of people with advanced digital skills. TIM, as a national company and endorsing the reference SDGs, in collaboration with institutions commits to this topic by spreading ICT technology in schools and in educational processes.

TIM’s commitment is also expressed through the initiatives of the TIM Foundation and Instituto TIM in Brazil in particular to improve the learning of STEM disciplines (The value chain/Initiatives consistent with the core business).

ACTIONS
TIM and TIM Brasil have joined their respective national Global Compact networks.

Since 2012, TIM has been an active member of the Peer Learning Group on Business and Human Rights, set up within Global Compact Network Germany.

ACTIVITIES. TIM and TIM Brasil draw up an annual “Communication on Progress”, which reports on progress achieved by the companies in promoting and applying the 10 core principles of the Global Compact.
The topics discussed during the two webinars organized by the Peer Learning Group on Business and Human Rights in 2018 were the following:
• “Internal and external awareness building on modern slavery”;
• “Meeting the transparency requirements and effectively communicating Human Rights”;

ACTIVITIES. TIM monitors and analyses reports of possible breaches of Human Rights received through the whistleblowing portal, and in 2018 continued the preparation of a specific procedure, “Management of complaints of any violations of Human Rights by TIM Group”.
In the last two years, TIM has also implemented:
·    human rights due diligence
·    “Respecting Human Rights in the Group” policy;
·    information and training on Human Rights
In 2018, TIM Participações made a version of the localised course available on the TIM e-learning platform.

ACTIONS
Hearings, involvement in workshops, the work of regional commissions and specialist working groups and  joint projects with local authorities. TIM promotes the formation of joint control committees comprised of representatives of all parties involved, according to the specific requirements of the project with the presence of stakeholders without any kind of discrimination.  (See the Value Chain chapter in the Sustainability Report and see on the sustainability website)

COMMITMENT. At local level, TIM engages in constant dialogue with institutions on general matters concerning the electronic communications sector, in particular in relation to the development of the ultrabroadband networks, of the 5G standard and the reduction of the digital divide. From 2017, thanks to oversight established in the territory, the company has been able to strengthen and intensify dialogue.

ACTIVITIES. The activities carried out include the drawing-up of protocols with local authorities in order to speed up the development of new generation access networks; forms of collaboration with municipalities to facilitate the dissemination and learning of new technologies; agreements, protocols and partnerships with local public administrations (PA) to disseminate innovation and digital culture; edition 2018 of 20 Policy Reports regional ‘state of the art and on the evolution of the regional policies regarding digital services, network infrastructure, digital agenda and smart cities.

ACTIONS
In Brazil. Initiatives involving dialogue with the government, both in Congress and at local level (agenda of meetings with individuals and communities, debates, hearings and public consultations).

TIM's dialogue with institutions is supported by the activities of the TIM Institute through partnerships designed with the government, in particular with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture; the TIM Institute works to achieve social progress, promoting studies on mathematical and scientific subjects and innovation through children and adolescents, developing free solutions that contribute to social policies. KEY ISSUES: network development and population coverage, digital and social inclusion, privacy, consumer protection.

ACTIONS
In 2016, the two-year project “A scuola di Digitale con TIM” (Using ICT in schools, with TIM) was launched in collaboration with MIUR to bring teachers of all levels closer to the digital world and the tools and new opportunities it offers to the teaching profession. The project involved around 3,350 teachers in 2017.  (See the following chapter in the Sustainability Report: The Value chain/Initiatives consistent with the core business)
