You never stop learning...especially if you work at TIM! Last year we provided as many as 1,249,089 hours of training that involved more than 42,000 people – 100% of our population.
How did we do it? Thanks to our TIM Academy, TIM's Corporate University with 9 sites in Italy and an online multi-device training platform, always available and accessible, with personalised learning plans based on the individual and their role, an open-to-all training offer and guided self-learning courses for specialised skills and roles.
For us at TIM, the purpose of training and development is to:
reskill and build on existing abilities;
develop the new skills needed to transform the industry;
take our managerial profile to the next step;
define individual development plans;
establish development and engagement plans.

Training for change

The evolution of business skills calls for new tools to support the changes and increase awareness among TIM's people.
There is a series of initiatives that moves in this direction and includes a project for developing digital skills. This is an online course for all Group employees that begins with a self-assessment of each person's knowledge, followed by a recommended training pathway certified to the DigComp European standard (DigComp is an EU reference framework for developing digital skills). After the final assessment test, an 'open badge' is awarded. In 2018, over 15,000 open badges were issued and more than 30,000 people overall took part in training.

Training for all

We have put in place various projects for specialist and job-related skills. For example, there is training for customer-facing employees, like salespeople and technicians, or those in IT. We have also set up a basic course on fixed and mobile telecommunications, available online including remotely.
The online linguistic training platform has allowed us to create a personalised English course: English@TIM, the English language training open to all Group employees.

Institutional and human rights training

We have placed a strong emphasis on human rights training courses, in conjunction with the Group publishing its Human Rights Policy. More than 177,000 hours of training on the subject were provided in Italy and over 22,500 hours in Brazil.
Of course there is also institutional and business-culture training that supports the cultural transformation of the organisation in an effort to be consistent with the evolving social, environmental and economic situations, and that spreads knowledge on the issues as required by the new laws.

Knowledge Management

We also make use of our Knowledge Management model, through which we want to promote and spread a sharing culture and encourage the generation of new ideas.
We have active professional communities on our intranet where we have begun to create and publish self-produced content on both specialised and general topics, to help maximise internal knowledge and spread it across the company.
