TIM enters the world of great sports events through a partnership with Eurosport and Discovery Communications to bring major Italian and international sporting events, including the Olympic Games, Roland Garros, Giro d’Italia and Tour de France, direct to TIM broadband, ultrabroadband and mobile customers until the end of 2020.
The TIMVISION decoder will give TIM customers direct access to the two themed channels Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 and the complete programming of all the live sports events offered by Eurosport Player, including the Grand Slam Tennis tournaments (Australian Open, Roland Garros, US Open), the FINA Swimming and IAAF Athletics World Championships, the Basketball EuroCup and all winter sports.
It will also be possible to watch Eurosport programming dedicated to cycling with 21 Grand Tour stages live as part of more than 300 hours of coverage from the sport’s three biggest events (Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, Vuelta de España) and all the other major Classics of international cycling.
TIM customers will have access - free of charge for the first year – to the most exciting events of Eurosport Player, alongside a truly multidimensional and immersive sports experience through additional camera angles, news, highlights and short form content. Eurosport Player creates the seat that doesn’t exist with every moment through every angle covered.
This strategic partnership allows TIM customers to watch the forthcoming Winter Olympic Games of PyeongChang in 2018 and the summer Games of Tokyo 2020 - with more than 4,000 hours of transmission - via Eurosport Player directly on the move and via the TIMVISION decoder on the home screen.
With this partnership TIM launches TIMVISION “Sports” and becomes the only operator in Italy to propose all premium sports programming from Eurosport Player in an offer with its own high speed connectivity services at an exclusive price.
This initiative strengthens TIM’s strategy in the dissemination of innovative services and confirms its role as technological enabler relying on its ultra-broadband networks to bring premium contents to more and more families for a high-quality entertainment.
The news is made in association with an announcement issued today to appoint TIM “Official Mobile Broadcaster” in Italy for the 2018-2020 Olympic Games.
