This new eco-friendly product line derives from Telecom Italia’s “Green Procurement” policy

Since the 90’s, Telecom Italia has carried out a number of internal R&D activities with the aim to design new telecommunications and networking equipment featuring reduced environmental impacts. Improving the environmental efficiency of products installed on customer’s premises means optimizing energy consumption without affecting their performance, but also identifying and applying a number of “Design For Environment” rules which in turn enable a significant reduction of their environmental impacts in the production and end of life phases.
Telecom Italia does not manufacture any piece of equipment: customer premises equipment is purchased from qualified suppliers and distributed through TI’s commercial channels. Thanks to the effective cooperation established with its suppliers, TI provides them with guidelines and requirements. Solutions investigated and developed over the years became mandatory requirements for the new generations of devices that will support the access to future Telecom Italia digital home services.
The Green line was indeed developed starting from the definition of specifications for power consumption, material choice, disassembling procedures, packaging; besides giving our customers the possibility to save money on their energy bills, the products featured in the TI Green Line are designed for an efficient end-of-life process where most of their parts can be either recycled or re-used. This corresponds to a true optimization of the life cycle steps the telecom operator can control directly.
