Charter of Values

It contains the basic values upon which the behavior of all of the Group's employees is inspired. The current Telecom Italia system of values is inspired by this charter.

Social-environmental reporting

The first Balance Sheet on the Group's social-environmental performance was published in 1998; it looked at the 1997 financial year.

ETNO

Telecom Italia is one of the founding members of the European Phone Operators (which was founded in May 1992). Its main task is to follow the evolution of the TLC sector's regulations. Sustainability was introduced in 1996.

Sodalitas

Sodalitas is a foundation which aims to promote the education of social responsibility and sustainability within companies by supporting the development of projects based on shared values as well as social, cultural and educational interventions for the purpose of solidarity

CSR Europe

Founded in 1995, it is the most important network for the dissemination of a culture of corporate responsibility at European level.

TIM Code of Ethics

In 2000 TIM wrote the first code of ethics which was then extended to the entire Telecom Italia Group from 2002.

Telecom Italia Group Code of Ethics

In 2002 the first Code of Ethics of the Telecom Italia Group was written.

Integration of Sustainability Reporting into the Financial Statements

In 2003 Telecom Italia drew up the first sustainability section, which was included in the consolidated Annual Report, according to the Triple Bottom Line approach, which evaluates financial, environmental and social performance. (See page 125 of the pdf document, 3.2 Mb)

Global Compact (ONU)

In 2002 Telecom Italia subscribed to the principles of the UN's Global Compact, the primary worldwide reference set-up in 2000 by the United Nations to promote protection of the environment, respect of human rights and work standards, and anti-corruption practices.

Internal Reporting System

An internal reporting system based on approximately 200 KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) was set up within the Group pertaining to all the areas in which the company produces significant impacts on the environment and measure the response capacity and the degree of attainment of the set objectives.

Evaluation form for Sustainability Projects

Business projects of relevant importance, which are presented to a special committee for approval, are accompanied by a file which illustrates the project's impact in terms of sustainability on certain areas of particular importance (e.g. CO2 emissions into the atmosphere).

CSR policy regarding employees

It is a policy on the adherence within the Group to work standards, with particular attention to child labour, forced labour, health and safety, freedom of Association, discrimination, disciplinary procedures, working hours and remuneration.

CSR policy regarding suppliers

It is a policy which governs the Group's business ethics (transparency, separation of roles, traceability) and the requirements which Telecom Italia demands from its own suppliers in terms of labour standards and environment.

Quantitative targets in the sustainability reporting

For the first time quantitative targets, in line with the themes of major importance for sustainability, were defined in 2006 to be applied the following year, 2007

GRI A+ level

Starting with the sustainability report for 2008 the Group has been awarded the A+ qualification; the highest level for reporting according to the principles of the Global Reporting Initiative.

Adoption of the AA100 Accountability Principles Standard (APS 2008)

Since 2009 the sustainability report has been drawn up in accordance with the principles of inclusiveness, materiality and compliance expected by the AA1000 Accountability Standard (APS 2008).

European Alliance on CSR

It was launched in 2006 in order to achieve a centre of excellence in Europe regarding themes of sustainability. Telecom Italia is one of the co-leaders of the workshop on communications of non-financial performance.

GeSi

In 2007 Telecom Italia joined the Global e-Sustainability Initiative, a global partnership of ICT companies to promote technologies for sustainable development.

Supervision from the Board

From 2008, through the Committee for Internal Control and Corporate Governance, the Board has exercised a high degree of supervision in regards to sustainability.

Framework GRI - G4

Starting with the sustainability report for 2014 the Group has obtained the G4 livel, mandatory for reports presented after 31/12/2015, according to the guide lines of the Global Reporting Initiative.
