Accademia Nazionale Santa Cecilia (Rome) was founded in 1585. Over the centuries, it has established itself as one of the most important symphonic associations in the world, with 100+ academic staff (including some of the most prominent artistic and musical personalities on the international scene), an orchestra and one of the best symphonic choirs in the world. The academy offers musical education of the highest standard, in line with the incredibly rich heritage of its centennial history. The increasing popularity of the web, and of web-accessible devices such as smartphones and tablets, is changing the face of the cultural experience, which progressively takes place online (both digital goods and services): today, there are several new ways to enjoy a place, an item or a piece of work.

PappanoinWeb stems from the long-term partnership of TIM and Accademia Nazionale Santa Cecilia: a collaboration aimed at promoting culture through an innovative use of the web. We privilege the dissemination of quality content and the socialisation of classic artistic experiences across a selection of audiences and innovative content distribution channels. The web broadens access to elite institutions, allowing users to enter a dialogue with specialists and build a specific cultural sensitivity. This way, the academy can open up to the general public and share its ethos with the widest possible audience, through the most contemporary languages. Our target is to be able to share our country’s values – such as classical music – with the Internet public at large, consolidating the distinctive factors of our identity as a community.

Since 2011 PappanoinWeb has been offering an annual programme of classical music events, available for live streaming, and accessible on demand on telecomitalia.com/pappanoinweb. On the website, users can also browse an online archive of research material and enjoy a range of audio guides by Maestro Antonio Pappano, for a peek into the secrets, the trivia and the history of the tracks featured on the show.

Our web audiences can communicate in the dedicated #pappanoinweb live chat, and via direct interaction with the concert hall, where youngsters sit in the WebArena area, connected to the web and sharing photos, short videos and real life emotions and experiences. The online user experience is also enhanced by 360° panoramic vision technology.
