SMART TOWN is an integrated infrastructure network management platform which improves energy efficiency, allowing consumption and maintenance to be planned;
- allows energy consumption and polluting emissions (CO2) to be reduced
- enables an innovative model of a smart and environmentally and financially sustainable city to be implemented, creating economies of scale that can be used to implement new services for the community
provides “smart” surveillance, in order to ensure the greater safety of citizens;
- allows digital communication (improving interaction with citizens and users in general, such as tourists);
- provides broadband access by means of wi-fi hot spots;
- controls street lighting remotely, monitors it and reports faults, reducing the intensity of illumination provided by each lamp as appropriate.
The platform uses the existing public street lighting system, integrating it with the other infrastructure installed in the area in a smart grid system.
SMART BUILDING allows:
- consumption (of electricity, water, etc.) to be monitored and reduced, allocating it, if necessary, to different cost centres;
- video-surveillance;
- digital communication;
- extension of the building's LAN
SMART INCLUSION is a service that aims to make life easier for children in the oncology and haematology departments of hospitals, allowing them to keep in touch with their schools. A single technological platform integrates remote teaching, entertainment and clinical data management services, allowing hospitalised children to participate actively in school lessons, play recordings of the lessons they have missed, do exercises and use individual self-tuition courses. Moreover, the children can communicate with their loved ones through video calls and access various entertainment programmes (cartoons, films, documentaries and sport). The medical staff can in turn use the system to display all the clinical files of patients with the option of updating them.
Smart Inclusion is currently installed in several hospitals in the cities of Bologna, Rome, Padua, Florence, Genoa and Turin.
MyDoctor@Home allows patients suffering from chronic illnesses, or in post-hospital care at home, to monitor their physiological parameters (body weight, blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, glycaemia, lung capacity, electrocardiogram, etc.) directly from their own homes or in properly equipped facilities (health centres, chemists’, doctors’ surgeries etc.). Depending on the plan drawn up by the relevant doctors, patients can also receive reminder text messages on the treatments they need to follow and the measures and medicines they need to take.
MyDoctor@Home won the Confindustria Innovative and Technological Services award for Innovation in ICMT (Information, Communication & Media Technology) and the "Prize of prizes” awarded by the Presidency of the Republic of Italy.
Following an initial experiment at the Molinette Hospital of Turin, as of December 2010 MyDoctor@Home has been operating in Piedmont and, over the next three years, it will allow 5,000 patients to be monitored at home. The use of MyDoctor@Home has been successfully tested in Rio de Janeiro by Tim Brasil and the Brazilian authorities in order to promote the spread of healthcare technologies and permanently connect the best hospital centres with rural areas.
