“Sustainable energy (or green energy”) refers to the ways of producing and using energy,  which allow sustainable development. This concept has three key components, one from the point of view of production (and therefore linked to the production of renewable energy), another related to its use or efficiency and energy saving and finally the last key related to environmental impact in terms of pollution (minimum, controlled or none).
In the area of sustainable energy production, the main reference is obviously renewable energies, that is sources which by their nature are not "exhaustible" on a human time scale, such as hydroelectric energy, solar energy, wind power, wave power, geothermal energy, tidal power and others.
