Two classrooms and a shed for birdwatching inaugurated.

Thursday 8 November 2012 in Ottaviano (Na), in the heart of the Vesuvius National Park, Legambiente and Telecom Italia presented the outcome of the "SalvaItalia" national campaign.
During the occasion, two classrooms and a shed for birdwatching were inaugurated.
The aim of this initiative is to make young people and families aware of environmental issues  and toreflect on the issue of legality, because environmental and social redemption is always possible. Proof of this is the city of Ottaviano, for years in the hands of the Mafia but now free and spokesman for legality.
Telecom Italia, as sole supporter, along with Legambiente participates in all phases of the project, confirming its commitment to protecting the Italian territory and contributing to the preservation and improvement of the environment as everyone's heritage.

As part of the sustainability strategy of the Telecom Italia Group, protecting the environment is one of the fundamental pillars. The Group's approach is based on adopting energy-efficiency policies (in 2011  consumption was reduced by 6.3% compared to 2010) and minimizing environmental impact in general (in 2011 carbon dioxide emissions were also reduced by 6.2% compared to 2010). However, their approach is especially based on the role they can play as a leader in the ICT sector, helping to reduce global emissions through the services offered (e.g. video conferencing, remote monitoring, smart cities, smart grid) which limit the need to travel and improve the quality of people's lives.

SalvaItalia is the campaign by Legambiente dedicated to those areas of our country suffering from environmental and social degradation. It is aimed at developing projects for the recovery and reuse of sites which are in jeopardy or which have been abandoned, through engagement activities, information and awareness-raising. SalvaItalia is also a tool to spread the culture of legality and to promote all possible synergies between civil society, companies and institutions engaged in the "frontier" territories.
