Antonio Pirozzi

Born in Caserta, he graduated from the Conservatorio “Domenico Cimarosa” with honors. Winner of the “Adriano Belli” competition in Spoleto, he made his début in the role of Bartolo in Mozart's Nozze di Figaro conducted by Massimo de Bernart (directed by Gigi Proietti) and Sparafucile in Verdi's Rigoletto. In 1987 he returned to Spoleto interpreting Raimondo (Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor). At the Opéra de Lyon he took part in Don Giovanni conducted by Peter Eötvös, and at the Teatro Comunale in Treviso in Nozze di Figaro conducted by Peter Maag and he sang Mozart's Requiem at the Teatro Lauro Rossi in Macerata with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia. He then took part in Verdi's Traviata at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. On the occasion of the Bicentenario del Tricolore (200th Anniversary of the Italian Flag) he performed at the Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia conducted by Abbado.

At Santa Cecilia he sang, among others Stravinskij's Les Noces, Dallapiccola's Il Prigioniero and La prima notte di Valpurga conducted by Tate.
