First clarinet of the Orchestra of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia since 2003, for 15 years Alessandro Carbonare has been First soloist clarinet at the Orchestre National de France. In the same role he has also had important collaborations with the Berliner Philharmoniker (Berlin Philharmonic).

Alessandro Carbonare has established himself in the most important international competitions: Geneva, Prague, Toulon, Monaco of Bavaria (Munich) and Paris. Since his début with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande he has performed as a soloist with all the major orchestras in the world. Most recently he worked as First clarinet with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He recorded most of the repertoire for Harmonia Mundi and JVC Victor and gave great impetus to contemporary music for clarinet, commissioning new shows to Ivan Fedele, Salvatore Sciarrino, Luis De Pablo and Claude Bolling. On personal invitation by Claudio Abbado, Alessandro Carbonare has accepted the role of First clarinet in the orchestra of the Lucerne Festival and Mozart Orchestra.
