2. What are the main activities of Telecom Italia?
The Telecom Italia Group operates in all the sectors of the advanced communications chain, with highly developed business in fixed-mobile communications and the Internet with the brands Telecom Italia, TIM and Virgilio; multimedia and television (La7, MTV Italia); in the office & system solutions (Olivetti); in research and development (Telecom Italia Lab). It is present mainly in Europe, the Mediterranean Basin and South America. At March 31, 2012, the Telecom Italia Group is one of the largest fixed telecommunications operators, with 14.5 mln physical accesses in Italy and a broadband portfolio equal to 9.1 mln accesses (7.1 mln retail and about 2.0 mln wholesale). The Group has also 32.3 million mobile telephone lines.
Abroad, TIM Brasil is the second largest operator by number of mobile lines (67.2 mln), providing mobile telephone and convergent services. In Argentina, the Group has increased its stake in Telecom Argentina S.A., (reaching an economic interest equal to 22,7%) through which it carries out its main activities (fixed telephony, data transmission and internet).

The Telecom Italia Group's adjusted net financial debt was around 31.0 billion euro as of March 31, 2012. This represents the difference between the adjusted gross financial debt (40.1 billion euro) and the adjusted Group's financial assets (approximately 9.1 billion euro), mainly represented by cash and other assets easy to be negotiated.

5. What’s the new “Customer Centric” organization ?
In 2009, Telecom Italia Group adopted the new “customer centric” organization for the domestic market. The manner of representing the Business Unit has changed from the one presented in the 2008 annual report in which such information had been organized by fixed and mobile technology. The principal operating and financial data of the Domestic Business Unit is now reported according to two Cash generating units (CGU): Core Domestic e International Wholesale.
Core Domestic includes all telecommunications activities inherent to the Italian market. The sales market segments defined on the basis of the new “customer centric” organizational model are: Consumer (which comprises the aggregate of voice and internet services products managed and developed for persons and families in the fixed and mobile telecommunications markets, public telephony and the web portal/services of the company Matrix); Business (constituted by the aggregate of voice, data, internet and ICT solutions services and products managed and developed for SMEs - small and medium enterprises – and SOHO - Small Office Home Office - in the fixed and mobile telecommunications markets); Top (which comprises the aggregate of voice, data, internet and ICT solutions services and products managed and developed for Top, Large Account and Enterprise clientele in the fixed and mobile telecommunications markets); National Wholesale (which consists of the management and development of the portfolio of regulated and unregulated wholesale services for fixed and mobile operators in the domestic market); Other (support structures). International Wholesale includes the activities of the Telecom Italia Sparkle group which operates in the international voice, data and internet services market aimed at fixed and mobile telecommunications operators, ISP/ASP (Wholesale market) and multinational companies through its own networks in the European, Mediterranean and South American markets.
