1. What does it mean SRI?

The Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) is a strategy of financial investments which takes into account both the investors' desire for profit and the social impacts of investments on the surrounding Community. Telecom Italia Investor Relations Dept and organize specific roadshow for this kind of investors.


2. Which is Telecom Italia strategy for the environment?

The environmental strategy of the companies of the Group is founded on the following principles:

  • - optimising the use of energy sources and natural resources;
  • - minimising negative environmental impact and maximising positive impact;
  •  - pursuing the improvement of the environmental performance;
  •  - adopting procurement policies that take account of environmental issues;
  •  - disseminating a culture promoting the correct approach to environmental issues. 


3. What is the sustainability model of Telecom Italia? 

The introducing process of sustainability in Telecom Italia started in 1997 with the publication of the first “Socio-environmental Report” and continues with the Ethics Codes and other similar documents. The performance of Sustainability is measured by specific indicators (Key Performance Indicators), grouped in macro-areas, in accordance with the 8 Stakeholders: Customers, Suppliers, Competitors, Institutions, Environment, Community, Human Resources and Shareholders. In demonstration of the importance that Telecom Italia Group attributes to the Sustainability, the information (in brief) concerning activities that regard the stakeholders, since 2003, formed part of the Report on Operations, integrating its financial and non-financial data.

The Group produces and publishes a yearly report fully dedicated to Sustainability which, since 2009, adopts the principles of the AA1000 AccountAbility Principles Standard (inclusivity, materiality, responsiveness).
In 2002 the Group subscribed principles of the Global Compact, the most important world organization to promote environment defence and respect for human rights and working standards. The System of Sustainability Management also takes into account the principal reference, agreement, regulations and international standard.

On November 11, 2014 Telecom Italia has been confirmed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes World (DJSI World) and Europe (DJSI Europe) for the eleventh consecutive year and it has been awarded the status of “best in class” in the telecommunications sector, with a score of 91/100. It is an important reward for Telecom Italia’s social and environmental commitment, for its contribution to technological innovation, as well as for its transparency with its stakeholders. 

Moreover, on November 5, 2014 Telecom Italia Telecom Italia has been inserted on the CDP Italy 100 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI Italy), a sustainability index issued directly by the Carbon Disclosure Project, a not for profit organisation that is one of the most important internationally, engaged in the assessment of transparency in companies'  dissemination of information on climate change.
CDLI Italy selects, from the companies listed on the FTSE MIB, FTSE Italia Small and Mid Cap, those that have shown a particularly pro-active approach to the disclosure of information on climate change. 

With a total score of 93 over 100, Telecom Italia is therefore one of the 11 leading companies in the field of sustainable innovation in 2014.
