Telecom Italia's research laboratories, hosted by the MIUR (Ministry for Education, University and Research) stand at the Turin Book Fair, which was held from 8-12 May, presented and demonstrated the concept of the Wellness@School service. The innovative solution, to be used in primary and secondary schools, allows the well-being and general state of health of the students to be monitored, periodically measuring their height, weight and blood pressure through a multi-parametric health kiosk interconnected to a platform that collects and provides users with the data measured and the relative statistics based on age, gender and geographical area.

There was a health kiosk at the Fair, which attracted high levels of interest from the visitors and took the public by storm for the whole five days of the event during which several hundreds of measurements were taken.

The Wellness@School service will be tested during the next school year 2014- 2015 in a school in Piedmont, as established in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by Telecom Italia and the Regional Office of Education for Piedmont, which also provides for joint activities in the service robots and digital teaching fields, also in support of specific learning difficulties.

During the Fair, Telecom Italia participated, together with representatives from the  Regional Office of Education (USR), in the session “Robot: from literary myth to daily presence” which was dedicated to joint experimental activities, mainly on the already launched topic of the service robot, but which also made time for presentations of the USR-Telecom experimental activities for the next school year.

On Sunday 11 May the Minister for Education, Stefania Giannini, while visiting the MIUR stand, stopped to watch the demonstration of Wellness@School also showing keen interest in activities currently being promoted by MIUR on the issue of obesity and nutritional education.
