Nowadays, everything is published on the Web, especially on Social Networks that connect and disseminate information worldwide.

Expo 2015, which will be held in Milan from 1 May 2015, has already become a renowned event of global importance. Thanks to the Social Strategy that is being planned and implemented by its partners, it will become a large "container", thus bringing together, under a single name, all 142 participating countries.

Social Strategy

As we all know, the theme of the global exhibition is nutrition. For the few who still do not know what the event is about, in December 2013 the first advertising campaigns started spreading the message and the count down to the great inauguration began. Since January 2014, a Team of young talents and notable professionals has been involved in implementing a communication strategy to be developed and spread in the Social Media world. What is it about?

Susanna Legrenzi – Head of Social Media Expo 2015 – describes the Expo event as “a container of topics, where all the parties and protagonists involved can bring their own contents”. In particular, the Team, which comprises young trainees of the Politecnico di Milano and Università IULM supported by professionals, is now involved in creating a report based on visual elements to provide further information on Expo 2015. The aim is to create an extended communication project, thus allowing all participating countries to offer their own contents.

As Susanna adds, the Team is also involved in “Special Projects”, such as the creation of a global dictionary and a platform to integrate all available information about the city of Milan.

What is the strength of Social Strategy Expo 2015?

Its strength lies in the direct involvement of people, communities and protagonists: everyone can participate and contribute.

But what role do communities have? You do not need to be directly involved, just participate, for example by sharing a tweet!

What is the role of Telecom Italia?

Telecom Italia is a Global Partner for this event. Furthermore, an important aspect, as highlighted by Paolo Teoducci – Head of Business Events at Telecom Italia, is that “Telecom Italia is not just involved in bringing Internet connection and a Wi-Fi network to the Expo venue” but also in connecting Expo 2015 to the rest of the world, including all “virtual” aspects regarding Expo 2015.

In addition to physically supplying Web connection, Telecom Italia will be involved in creating a Cloud Data Centre for access control in order to offer information to both real and virtual visitors. Its role is to provide a unique atmosphere and experience, as well as information, making it available to everyone, which otherwise could only be experienced by “real” visitors.

But what role do Social Networks play in all this? They play a fundamental role, since digital information is now increasingly expressed via Social Media.
