JOL MobiLAB produces mobile services for the world of social communication.

Research at the lab focuses on the design and prototyping of mobile services, adapting innovative methods of programming, brainstorming and testing.

For a clearer idea of what takes place at the lab, we interviewed Marco Marengo, Head of the JOL MobiLAB.

Activities at the JOL largely involve the design and development of mobile apps for smartphones and tablets therefore we mainly work on Apple (iOS) and Google (Android) platforms. Just lately, we have also created several web interfaces and a platform "enabler" that can send multi-platform push notifications.

We are currently working on an SDK (Software Development Kit) for immersive reality and on TellMeFirst, an open source tool for classifying and enhancing textual documents using Open Linked Data.

For each app developed at MobiLAB, we analyse all innovative technological aspects and provide a user experience that is always engaging and user-friendly. To achieve this goal, we employ the user-centered design method. This design approach focuses on users, their needs, tastes and technological habits in order to create an up-to-date and user-friendly product so that users are not forced to change their habits to adapt to the product.
