ARTE LAGUNA & TELECOM ITALIA

Special  Awadr: "Innovative Interactive Tour on Telecom Italia's Future Centre"

Nicola Simion, a young Venetian architect, is the winner of the “Innovative Interactive Tour on Telecom Italia's Future Centre", sponsored by Telecom Italia and Arte Laguna Award. The announcement was held on March 21, 2014 at Ca ' Farsetti, the City Hall of Venice, in the presence of  Gian Paolo Balboni, Head of Trends in Telecom Italia, Beatrice Susa, one of the founders of Arte Laguna Award, and the Award curator Igor Zanti, and before Venice’s local authorities also.

The Special Award "Innovative Interactive Tour on Telecom Italia 's Future Centre", which enhances the partnership between Arte Laguna Award and Telecom Italia’s Future Centre in Venice , fostered the innovative use, by tourists, of the architectural spaces and rooms of Telecom Italia Future Centre, in the former convent of Campo San Salvador.

Mr. Simion was awarded a prize of € 5.000 for his project "BitWave ", which lays the delivery of different content through the use of light and multimedia projections , including two-dimensional or three-dimensional ones. The project is meant to integrate aesthetics with functional and technological basics, so to perfectly suit the environment it was imagined for.

A special artistic mention goes to the project " Share a Secret", by Dario Lazzaretto , for the wise use of technology, thus merged with a touch of humour, so to coast the highest performances of participatory art, whereas a Smart Spaces mention was conferred to Patrizia Facchinetti and Maria Grazia Schmidhauser, for the presentation of a green project named "Naughty Lounge".

Exhibitions & symposium City-Data-Future UrbanIxD

UrbanIxD, is a project performed by Telecom Italia Future Centre together with some Universities in UK, Denmark and Croatia, after a successful Summer School, which took place in August 2013 at the Department of Visual Communications Design, Arts Academy, University of Split, in Croatia; as a next step, there will be held an exclusive public exhibition at Telecom Italia’s Future Centre in Venice, from 24 September to 7 October 2014, during the Venice Architecture Biennale.

On September 25, at the Refectory Hall of the Future Centre, a Symposium (on invitation only) will take place to encourage debates and discussion around the exhibition features and on UrbanIxD project itself.
UrbanIxD project investigates how far the interaction between human beings and data may change and evolve in the future, and the way these may affect city life.
Interaction design is so challenged to let connected data become intelligible, useful and appropriate for all citizens.
The | City | Data | Future | exhibition will focus on the main future experiences our city inhabitants will ever come through.

UrbanIxD
 urbanixd.eu is a Coordination Action project, running in 2013-2014, held under the Future and Emerging Technologies programme of the European Commission . This Coordination Action is meant to build up a coherent multidisciplinary research community, to operate throughout urban environment thus granted with augmented reality and connected data, keenly focusing on human activities, experiences and behaviors occurring all along (Interaction Design).
