When a project becomes social

Have you ever wondered how Martin Luther King would have drawn attention to his famous speech in our times? What impact would it have had on our society today with the technologies now available?

Today, that speech would not be written by one person alone, but by many people together in order to loudly voice the same dream.

Many issues for many tweets

Telecom Italia has chosen the Scuola Holden for a social writing project in order to rewrite the famous speech “I have a dream” with a modern and collective or social approach.

The project directly involved the users who, after discovering the topics to be discussed, posted every week on the Facebook pages and on the Twitter accounts of Telecom Italia and Scuola Holden, sent their replies in the form of tweets with the hashtags #wehaveadream and #temadellasettimana (topic of the week, e.g. #freedom), directly to the Twitter Connect website or from their personal account.

All the tweets were collected by a live tweet viewer, which was enhanced in real time, creating a truly collective narrative on the topic.

What about the best?

Every week, Scuola Holden chose the authors of the four best tweets, who were given the opportunity to celebrate their tweet in a short story.

The other participating users were able to access the website to vote for the short stories.

After the contest, four short stories were chosen (from the most voted, after careful selection by a panel of judges) for each topic to be published by Scuola Holden as part of what will become “The Shared Speech”.

Once again, technology helps spread ideas and thoughts.
