During the 2015 Management Meeting, which took place in the Auditorium of the Music Park in Rome, several young new managers were treated to a special moment.

Including Gaetano, Manager of the Access Operations Unit in Varese in the Access Operations Line

Gaetano said: “If someone had told me, when I was hired by Telecom Italia about two and a half years ago, that I had even a remote possibility of receiving this type of acknowledgement directly from our Chairman, our CEO and our Personnel Manager in the presence of 1,000 people and with thousands of others watching via streaming, even in South America…well, to be honest, I would have thought I was in some multinational in Silicon Valley, in which, we all know, it is common to find young, talented managers in top level company jobs.

However, despite everything, the first time I set foot in Telecom Italia, I immediately felt, through my colleagues and the People Value team, the great trust that the company had in its young new hires and its constant attention to the planning and development of our training pathway. During my first work period in the company, I do not remember when the exact moment was that I understood that I had made the right choice by joining Telecom Italia and that I could finally play all my cards. What is certain is that, ever since then, I have had a series of incredible experiences, both human and professional, and a growth path that has led to participating in this latest Management Meeting event.

That day, a small dream of mine came true and it has brought with it many emotions, which are simply indescribable. The most beautiful of which I saw in the eyes of my girlfriend and I heard in the voices of my family, as well as in the compliments and esteem coming from my friends and colleagues.

One of the many things that I was made aware of by that extraordinary event is that today, observing the scenario in which we live, we realise increasingly more that we are part of a great change, of the birth of a new technological era which sees us, as professionals in this sector within Telecom Italia, as protagonists in the digital transformation and innovation process. Therefore, now more than ever, we have an enormous opportunity to grasp, as well as the duty and the social responsibility to do so.

My hope is that the latter message, which is perhaps the most important that we took away from the Management Meeting , will finally give us the thrust that will launch us into the future that, those who like us in Telecom Italia are committed to building, deserve to have.
