The project, created by Fondazione Telecom Italia with the Umberto Veronesi Foundation, was presented in Rome today.

Well Up is a multimedia package on health and prevention through which all staff of the Telecom Italia Group can contact experts at the Umberto Veronesi Foundation on topics such as oncology, cardiology, healthy diet, viruses, vaccines and much more.

However, that is not all: Well Up is also a free app for smartphones and tablets for disease prevention and health promotion. It is a personal diary that indicates information regarding upcoming appointments and recommended preventive tests, medical centres selected by the Umberto Veronesi Foundation and tips on good practices and healthy diet, to take care of oneself and maintain good health at any age.

Well Up is a starting point and an asset to begin and maintain a healthy lifestyle, which is not based on the usual and obvious advice (e.g. don't drink, cut down on smoking), but offers useful tips on reducing risks and improving quality of life for all.
The app is downloadable for free from the Apple Store and Google Play.

The app helps to better plan prevention activities for ourselves and our families. It is a true health diary, a continuously updated source of advice.
It has a section for personal data and family physicians contact info, a geolocalised section indicating nearby medical centres, a page to insert health information regarding all family members and an advice section that refers specifically to children, women, men and the elderly.

Along with the app, the project offers further prevention education through videos, health notebooks and in-depth documents dedicated to the staff of the Telecom Italia Group.
The topics covered are:

  • exercise
  • diet
  • alcohol and smoking
  • preventive tests (breast, prostate and skin cancers)
  • check-ups and vaccines (sleep apnoea, HPV virus)
  • understanding neurodegenerative diseases  (Alzheimer and Parkinson)
