The 3rd of June really was a day full of emotions in which young people from near and far (from Rome, Turin, Bologna as well as Naples and even Norway) pooled their creativity and their desire to do in order to try and think together about an increasingly digital future. Finally we came to the concluding part of the “Innovaconnoi” contest: we met the participants in the “TIM4EXPO” hall of the Triennale di Milano for the awards ceremony of “Innovaconnoi”, the talent contest run by Telecom Italia on the future of the digital life.

We invited the finalist teams to the event as well as our newly hired youngsters who had a chance to chat over a welcome coffee under the fantastic portico of the Triennale garden, giving precious advice and talking about their experiences of joining the company.

After the initial greetings, the finalists presented their projects to the committee of Managers of Telecom Italia. Some slides, a bit of emotion and much applause for all 13 ideas that covered different topics: sport, psychology, mobility, education and even coffee. The topic of the digital future was broken down into a great many areas of daily life.

The evaluation committee then got together once again to discuss the final choice: the third place went to Andrea Baccarini and Guido Borghi with their project Sushat, a smart public transport system managed directly by users, based on small smart shuttles that study people's habits using GPS data. Its use is encouraged by lower environmental impact and the reduction of traffic and accidents.

Second place went to Elisabetta Chiais and Giada Gili with their project Easy Care dedicated to managing patients at the bedside. Profile, clinical diary, treatment, medical reports and medicines all in digital format and available to the doctor, the patient and the nurses in charge providing an ordered and efficient service without wasting paper.

Whereas first place was awarded to Veronica Bessone with Com_Unita, a project that aims to educate children on a proper lifestyle in an entertaining way. Through a cartoon character to be taken care of, children learn important concepts about food and the actions to take to have a healthy lifestyle.

The top three were honoured by the Head of People Caring & Communication of Telecom Italia, who explained the reasons for the choice and handed over the prizes (smartphone, tablet and mini-router) with the congratulations of the Commission and applause from the other participants.

During the light lunch outdoors, the finalists were able to get to know our managers better and to listen to suggestions from the members of the Committee on how to improve their ideas. After the inevitable group photo, the participants returned to the hall to have individual meetings with the recruiters. Each interview went into further depth providing the possibility of leaving without having further doubts or questions.

It was without doubt a very challenging day full of activities but one that left a great big smile on everyone's face.
