The new ADSL offer for the residential market

A vast range of innovative proposals: from simple access to a self-installation kit and the classic turnkey solution for broadband Net surfing. Prices slashed by up to 45% with respect to the previous offer. Strong focus on provisioning and customer care: activation in just 7 days and creation of a specialized front end for ADSL. Assistance service available 24 hours a day.

Today sees the launching of Telecom Italia’s new ADSL offer for the residential market, which will enable vast numbers of families to access this new service at truly competitive prices and without forgoing quality and efficiency. The new offer will be available as from 15 April 2002.

The offer is organized in terms of two commercial families and six proposals.

- ADSL by consumption

The first family consists of the new ADSL by consumption offer, which makes it possible to enter the broadband world at very low cost indeed.

The basic characteristics comprise 20 hours a month of Internet traffic (additional hours cost €0.025 a minute including VAT), a speed of 256 Kbps downstream and 128 Kbps upstream, a 40 MB e-mailbox and 20 MB of Web space.

The consumption-based offer presents three options. In the first case, in addition to the above, customers will receive ADSL access alone, without modem, at a monthly charge of €24.95 including VAT, a cut of 45% with respect to the previous offer. In the second, a self-installation kit including modem and filters is delivered directly to the home for a monthly charge of €27.95 including VAT. In the third, a Telecom Italia technician will come to the customer’s house to install the modem and filters (both included in the offer) and also configure the PC. The monthly charge for this option is €30.95 including VAT.

- Flat-rate ADSL

The second family offers all the advantages of non-stop broadband connection at a flat rate. Internet traffic is unlimited and the speed is 256 Kbps downstream and 128 Kbps upstream. A 40 MB e-mailbox and 20 MB of Web space are also included.
The non-stop flat-rate offer again presents three options. In the first case, in addition to the above, customers will receive ADSL access alone, without modem, at a monthly charge of €36.95 including VAT. In the second, a self-installation kit including modem and filters is delivered directly to the home for a monthly charge of €39.95 including VAT. In the third, a Telecom Italia technician will come to the customer’s house to install the modem and filters (both included in the offer) and also configure the PC. The monthly charge for this option is €42.95 including VAT.

For all these ADSL offers, the activation charge of €154.80 including VAT will be waived until 30 June 2002.

The advantages

Telecom Italia’s new ADSL offer, aimed at families together with small and medium-sized firms, presents a series of advantages as regards both price and quality of service. Customers can in fact enjoy broadband access for less than €25 a month including VAT, slashing the price of the previous offer by as much as 45%. It will also be easier to purchase this service. Customers can contact 187, which will have over 1,000 specially trained operators available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, or any one of the Punto 187 shops set up throughout national territory. Customers can also set the date of installation at the moment of purchase and use new software, available on the Telecom Italia website at http://www.187.it/, to check whether their PC can accommodate ADSL technology. Depending on the option selected, a specialized technician or self-installation kit will arrive on the doorstep in just 7 days. Customers can also count on a specialized assistance service all day every day.

As Riccardo Ruggiero, Director of Telecom Italia Domestic Wireline, points out, “This offer, launched just a few days after the Wholesale offer for Internet Service Providers and Operators, will enable families and small-medium enterprises to enjoy easier access to the broadband world without forgoing high standards of quality. This strategy will greatly boost the development of Italy’s broadband market and contribute to the process of nationwide digitization.”
