The opening ceremony to present the challenges and opportunities offered by the Master's degree which will favour the  spread of academic knowledge in the organizational field will be held in Pisa today

Smart, just like the “Smart Solutions – Smart Communities” second-tier university Master's degree , which is part of the established partnership between Telecom Italia and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, which is at the starting gate for a new edition. Today in fact the auditorium of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa will see the inauguration of the second edition of the Master's degree, entirely funded by Telecom Italia, which will train 16 young talented engingeering graduates.

In particular, those taking part in the course will have the chance to gain an excellent preparation, focused on new business technologies  and quality of life improvement for citizens in areas including health, energy, monitoring (even remote), as well as the skills for driving a radical but sustainable transition towards "smart services", helping society to evolve towards "Smart Communities". The training course also aims to prepare the youngsters in sectors that exploit innovative technologies, through the planning, development and management of the transformation in order to define and launch new fundamental and innovative "smart" products and services.

About 80% of those who took part in the previous edition are in the process of being recruited by Telecom Italia in positions that are strategic for innovation. Recently Mario Di Loreto, Head of People Value at Telecom Italia, had the chance to stress that “Investing in young people, as Chief Executive Officer Marco Patuano has also stated on many official occasions, is a highly qualifying aspect of our People Strategy. Knowledge and innovation can only be combined by giving adequate space and trust to new arrivals. Like many large companies operating in the Italian market, ours too has a structural need to move towards generational change which also implies giving new value to the wealth of more mature skills within our company.”

Pierdomenico Perata, Dean of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna:

“We are particularly happy to see the partnership between Telecom Italia and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna confirmed. This partnership has become strategic for Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, capable of redefining and transforming relationships between industry and the world of university research and education, promoting the transfer of "academic" knowledge to uses in industry. The university Master's degree ‘Smart Solutions Smart Communities’ is one of the qualifying aspects of this collaboration, which involves training as much as research. The second edition of the Master's degree which we inaugurated this morning is associated with local development projects, advanced training courses and the ‘Joint Open Lab’, created by Telecom Italia at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and which will host numerous lessons scheduled in the Master's degree course programme to train the students, with particular reference to new business technologies and quality of life improvement for citizens”.

The partnership between Telecom Italia and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna is redefining and transforming the model for relationships between industry and the world of university research and education,  encouraging the transfer of the knowledge typical of academic research to uses in industry. This collaboration is associated with local development projects, advanced training courses and the “Joint Open Lab”, created by Telecom Italia at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, which, for this second edition too, will host numerous applied laboratory lessons scheduled in the course programme.
