The agreement also entails the development of new e-government services for individuals, companies and local institutions in the health and social welfare sector, transport and logistics, regional safety and training.

The Valle d’Aosta Region and Telecom Italia today signed a Protocol of Understanding for the extension of broadband network coverage to 100% of the Region’s municipalities in two years, reaching 96% of fixed telephone lines. The goal of the agreement is to provide an ever higher number of people, companies and local institutions with access to new digital technologies.

The agreement also entails the cooperation between the Valle d’Aosta Region and Telecom Italia for the development of new public and e-government services based on the broadband network, in particular in the health and social welfare sector, transport, logistics, personal and regional safety and training.

The President of the Valle d’Aosta Region, Luciano Caveri, said: “With this agreement, the Region intends to answer the need for greater access to technological networks and the improvement of the Valle’s infrastructure, with the aim of reducing the gap that still exists between various parts of the region.”

Riccardo Ruggiero, the Chief Executive of Telecom Italia, said: “The agreement with the Valle d’Aosta Region confirms Telecom Italia’s commitment to the development and distribution of broadband infrastructure and innovative services based on digital technologies throughout the country”.

The region’s key budget and finance officer, Aurelio Marguerettaz, added: “The Region will head coordination and guide the development of innovation in Valle d’Aosta, in a shared vision of network services for individuals and companies.”
