Italy’s second division matches are back on TV

Telecom Italia Media has signed a deal with the Italian Football League for exclusive rights to broadcast the Serie B TIM championship on digital terrestrial pay-per-view TV for the 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 seasons.

Telecom Italia Media’s digital terrestrial pay-per-view channel Cartapiù will be providing live coverage of the most important games every week, plus highlights from all of the other matches.

Every week the channel will broadcast live coverage of the Friday match, the Monday match, plus the four most exciting games every Saturday on four different channels. A fifth channel, due to go live in September, will offer live action and all of the goals from the other matches played that day.


All Cartapiù customers who already have a Cartapiù Smart Card decoder will be able to watch the first two weeks of the championship free of charge.

The Cartapiù Smart Card is on sale at leading electronics retailers, tobacconists’ and newspaper stands.

The Serie B 2008/2009 Championship Bundle lasts the whole the season for €69, and is on sale at lotto outlets from September 10.

Thanks to this agreement, it will be possible to follow the Serie B TIM championship on Alice Home TV, Telecom Italia’s  Adsl TV, for the rest of season.

OPENING-DAY MATCHES

Cartapiù will be broadcasting from the first whistle of the season, as it brings viewers the Parma v. Rimini match tomorrow night (Friday, August 29, at 8:45 p.m.).

Empoli v. Brescia, Mantova v. Frosinone, Pisa v. Grosseto, and Salernitana v. Sassuolo will be shown live at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 30. 

Bari v. Triestina goes out live on Monday September 1 at 8:45 p.m.
