Virgilio, Telecom Italia Media’s portal and search engine, once again confirms itself Italy’s most popular Internet destination. According to the Nielsen/Netrating monthly survey conducted on behalf of Audiweb, in the month of April 2004, Virgilio registered the highest number of unique browsers.

8,024 million unique browsers used Virgilio’s search engine and surfed within the Virgilio portal this April. These figures are a further proof of Virgilio’s success which may be ascribed to its original and recently-revamped homepage design, its rich and constantly growing content and services and the continuous innovation of its offer. Virgilio Ricerca continues to expand the scope of its search engine attracting and retaining new users. New services on Virgilio include “Music Box”, for searching and purchasing all kinds of music, and “Search products”, a unique service that links Virgilio’s search engine technology to the portal’s shopping channel for increasingly user-friendly online purchases.

The Virgilio portal is acknowledged as Italy’s most exhaustive and authoritative Italian tool for accessing what’s new or useful in both Italian web sites and the best sites worldwide. Special features, recommendations and Web guides are organized into thematic channels so that users in the domestic market may find their way to all of the most popular and groundbreaking web destinations.
