From digital to the territory, from on-line to off-line and vice versa: crowdfunding is increasingly becoming a social phenomenon and innovative business model that is able to bring new dynamics into the market, based on  co-creation and collaboration between people.

Funding from below is therefore presented as an extraordinary opportunity for growth and an effective tool by which to give the voluntary sector a strong boost, as well as the profit world and citizens seeking to develop social, creative or environmental projects.

We spoke about this and the prospects that crowdfunding can have in Italy with Ivana Pais, sociologist, researcher and professor of Economic Sociology at the Faculty of Economics of Milan "Cattolica" University.

Crowdfunding is a sharing economy practice, with forms of collaboration such as reward-based and sharing in the event of equity-based. It also extends the sphere of reciprocity, innovating traditional forms of donation.

The way of doing business changes because the vision of the entrepreneur as an isolated figure has been surpassed, creating his product or service and then putting it to the test on the market. The process has now reversed: the entrepreneur is the person who knows how to cultivate a community, who makes resources (ideas, money and reports) available to develop a project.
