2014

  • Telecom Italia and ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities) sign an agreement for the experimentation of innovative services dedicated to smart cities. The  programme foresees the start-up of experimental services for energy and urban monitoring in four Italian cities
  • Italy first “live” test, in Turin. of Advanced LTE Technology on the TIM network.   Also available to the public prototypes of new LTE dongles for mobile use of HD 4K multimedia content
  • Polytechnic University of Turin and Telecom Italia experiment a  new generation of drones for smart cities. The evolution of service robotics applied to the smart cities of the future to guarantee more liveable and safer cities
  • Telecom Italia launches the first Call Centre accessible to deaf people. This new method of interaction is made possible by the Pedius APP, available for both Apple and Android, which allows people to call 187 and 119 using voice recognition and synthesis technologies.
  • Telecom Italia is the first in Italy to launch 4G+ on the TIM network. LTE Advanced technology becomes available nationally to offer connections at up to 180 Mbps on smartphones and tablets and will shortly reach 225 Mbps. the  service is active in 60 cities
  • TIM brings the number of Italian cities where 4G Plus, which can reach real transmission speeds of around twice those available with normal 4G, is already available to 120

2015

  • “Superfibra” is  the new ultra-broadband service  based on the optic fibre network realized in Ftttcab (Fibre to the Cabinet) architecture
  • TIM and Huawei start off the first LTE Broadcast technology live test in Italy, the new generation of mobile TV which, thanks to TIM’s 4G network, allows simultaneous access to multiple events’ live HD contents, through your own mobile device
  • Thanks to the partnership between Telecom Italia and Sky, Italy enter the quadruple play era: for the first time integrated landline and mobile, internet and TV services
  • Olivetti launches its first 3D printer. Is is manufactured entirely in Italy and all the technology used is Italian
  • TIM accelerates development of lte technology and brings its internet connection up to 300 mbit per second. TIM is the first in Italy to make in-field download connections available on its LTE network with Three Carrier Aggregation
  • TIM  becomes the Group's sole brand for commercial offers in fixed, mobile and the internet

2016

  • The new TIM trademark is revealed 
  • Agreement between TIM and Huawei for the development of Internet of Things solutions for the mobile networks. It is an important step for the evolution of the 4G mobile network and  future 5G towards IoT, a sector in strong development in ICT
  • In Verona, TIM has launched the evolution of 4G Plus through “Three Carrier Aggregation”, the new technology that brings the maximum mobile connectivity speed up to 300 Mbps
  • TIMvision's decoder with the Android TV operating system is on the market. Created in collaboration with Google, it provides direct access to very high quality on-demand television content and that found on the web from any type of TV
  • TIM is the first in Italy, in Perugia, to launch the ultrabroadband service on the new FTTH (Fiber To The Home) network
  • TIM launches the "intelligent" 4G in Palermo. It is the first operator in Europe to deploy Huawei’s innovative CloudRAN technology, enabling better performances and increased LTE network capacity where needed
  • TIM and Vivendi launch the STUDIO+ service, the new application dedicated to the viewing of contents produced and filmed for smartphones.
  • TIM is the first European operator to offer its business and retail customers in Rome, Palermo and Sanremo speeds of up to 500 Mbps in download on its mobile 4.5G network

2017

  • TIM and Ericsson strength their cooperation in the development of 5G technology to speed up evolution towards the new network
  • Agreement with the Municipality of Turin: TIM starts building Italy’s first 5G network in this urban area, with the aim of covering the entire city by 2020
