TIM Brasil closed its first 9 months of 2016 with 63.2 million mobile lines. It was the first mobile operator to be present in all Brazilian states and today confirms its commitment: it is #1 in 4G coverage and its fiber network covers about 70.700 km.

The TIM Brasil Group operates as a mobile operator, also providing convergent services. In spite of the tough macroeconomic conditions of  2015, both for the country and the sector, TIM Brasil was able to defend its subscriber base, which reached 63.2 million mobile lines and a 22.5% market share,  at September 2016, thanks to constant attention to quality and innovation.

As a result of its great financial and operational effort in 2015, with more than 92% of total capex committed to infrastructure, TIM Brasil achieved the leadership in 4G coverage in Brazil, both by number of cities (746) and % of population covered (66% of the country’s urban population). To further develop the infrasctructures, 2016-2018 Plan envisages investments within about 14 billion reais.

During its presence in the country, it has become the pioneer in launching products and services, such as the introduction of MMS and Blackberry in Brazil. Continuing this trend, TIM keeps adding to its portfolio new and innovative offerings.

With a focus on the development of its network, TIM Brasil,  in 2009, merged with Intelig, a fixed, long-distance and data transmission provider, to expand its infrastructure and improve its competitive positioning in the telephony market.

In 2011, through the acquisition of Eletropaulo Telecomunicações  and AES Communications Rio de Janeiro, renamed TIM Fiber San Paulo and TIM Fiber Rio de Janeiro, it added  to its infrastructure a fiber optic network with more than 5,500 km in 21 cities of the aforementioned regions.

To reaffirm the company's commitment to providing high-quality services in even the most remote and inaccessible areas of the country, TIM laid 1,700 km of fibre optic cables in North Brazil (Amazonas, Pará and Amapá).

In 2015, 6 thousand km of optical fiber were implemented. Today fiber network totalled more 70,700 km.

Tim Participações, the holding company,  is a publicly-held company, whose shares are listed on the São Paulo Stock Exchange and ADRs (American Depositary Receipts) are listed on the New York Stock Exchange. It is also one of the select group of companies included in the Corporate Sustainability Index of the São Paulo Stock Exchange.
