Symmetrical pair cable
It is the main element of the telephone distribution network. It is obtained by combining groups of pairs ( a pair or a twisted pair is constituted by two cylindrical conductors in copper coated by an insulating material ). The cables are in symmetrical pairs in copper and differ in the diameter of the pairs, for the type of coating and for their potential i.e to the number of pairs that contain. The primary  network access - which connects the central distribution frame with the box, is made up of standard cables with high potentials (400-2400 pairs ), the secondary network access - which connects the control  box to the distributor located at the customer site - is generally constructed from cables to medium-low potentials ( 10-400 pair).
