First application of the ‘virtual reality’ with the 5G technology 
 

In collaboration with Ericsson TIM activates the first 5G antenna with millimetre waves in the country today at the Politecnico of Turin, reaching the record connection of 20 Gigabit/s, the maximum demonstrated by the new technology in a urban context. Moreover, for the first time in Italy a virtual visit service in real time has been achieved on an experimental 5G network system.

A download speed of up to 1 Gbps

TIM achieves a world first, demonstrating a download speed of up to 1 Gbps on its 4.5G live mobile network with Licensed Assisted Access (LAA). A milestone which brings into play the advanced antennas and modulations already implemented in our 4.5G network and LAA technology which groups the LTE frequencies with the non-licensed 5GHz spectrum.

In Turin, TIM puts its foot down on 5G  

On “5G Day”, in Turin on Aril 4, TIM, working with Qualcomm Technologies Inc. and Ericsson,  achieves another first, reaching speeds of up to 700 Mbps in download and up to 75 Mbps in upload, on the live mobile network.
