This result comes for the eleventh consecutive year and this year Telecom Italia has been also awarded the status of “industry leader” in the telecommunications sector

The Dow Jones Sustainability World and the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe are among the most important and selective stock market Sustainability indexes worldwide. These are stock market indexes, made up of listed companies which include only best performers, insofar sustainability and corporate social responsibility are concerned.

Inclusion, subject to an annual review, depends on a rigorous assessment made by specialised rating agencies that analyse the financial and non-financial performances of each company, based on a number of criteria, including:  relations with customers and employees, innovation and research, risk management, strategies relating to climate change, supply chain and social/environmental impacts of business.

Being sustainable companies means being able to meet social/environmental and governance requirements. Compliance with social/environmental and ethical principles, and the adoption of resulting behaviours, has become a significant element today in the eyes not only of that part of the general public increasingly sensitive to these issues, but also of investors, who today pay increasing attention to the non-financial parameters of companies.

Telecom Italia has not only been confirmed, once more, in The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes but it has also been awarded the status of “best in class” in the telecommunications sector, a category in which the competition for inclusion in the indexes is particularly intense.

Among the major European telecom groups included in the indexes are British Telecom, Telefonica, KPN, Swisscom, Portugal Telecom and among the Italian companies are Atlantia, CNH Industrial, Enel, ENI, Finmeccanica, Intesa Sanpaolo, Pirelli, TERNA, UniCredit.
